Hernando Ruiz-Jimenez (born 1966) serves as Chief Marketing & Communications Officer for Triple-S, Blue Cross Blue Shield licensee in Puerto Rico.

Career[edit]

Hernando Ruiz-Jimenez serves as Chief Marketing & Communications Officer for Triple-S. In this role, he is actively transforming the largest insurance and second largest local company in the state, into a customer-centric integrated care provider. Ruiz-Jimenez is responsible for strategies, direction and plans to further develop the relationship of the Triple-S brands with its members, providers and business partners for all business lines: health, life and property.

Prior to joining Triple-S, Ruiz-Jimenez served as executive vice president and general manager at ImpreMedia,[1] a leading Hispanic media group in the United States, running El Diario (New York City), the oldest Spanish speaking newspaper in the U.S. His responsibilities also included La Raza (Chicago), La Prensa (Orlando), and corporate sales & marketing. Previously, he was partner and executive vice president of Wireless Idea, a company dedicated to the creation, distribution and sales of digital content in the US and Latin America.

The executive also served as vice president of marketing for Diageo North America, the world’s leading spirits company, where he led Captain Morgan to become the #3 spirits brand in the U.S. During three consecutive years Captain Morgan delivered the highest share growth of any brand in the industry, while achieving double digit sales growth with record profit increases.

Likewise, after holding positions of increasing responsibility in Puerto Rico, Brazil, Venezuela, Florida and New York, he led the global marketing efforts of PepsiCo’s flavor brands.

Ruiz-Jimenez currently serves on the board of Caribe Media Inc.[2] and the boards of all of Triple-S’s subsidiaries. Previous board experiences include Wireless Idea, Certified Audit of Circulations (CAC) and the National Puerto Rican Forum (NPRF). He is a Governance Fellow of the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD) and a member of the Latino Corporate Directors Association (LCDA).

Ruiz-Jimenez has a degree in Business Administration summa cum laude from Villanova University, a Master in Business Administration from Stanford University, and a certificate in Public Administration from the same institution.

Personal life[edit]

Born May 21st 1966 in Bogota, Colombia, raised in Granada, Spain and having lived across multiple countries and continents, Ruiz-Jimenez is currently a resident of Greenwich, Connecticut.
