Huh Yun-jin (Hangul허윤진; born October 8, 2001) is a Korean-American singer. She first appeared on the reality survival television series Produce 48 (2018). In 2022, she debuted with the South Korean girl group Le Sserafim. Huh has also released two singles, "Raise Your Glass" and "I ≠ Doll".

Early Life

Huh Yun-jin (Hangul허윤진) was born in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea on October 8, 2001. She is the eldest of three children, with a younger sister and brother. As an infant, Huh and her family relocated to New York, United States, where she attended Niskayuna High School.[1] In March 2019, Huh joined Hanlim Multi Art School's Applied Music Department. However, she later dropped out before she could graduate.

Career

2022–present: Career beginnings and Produce 48

She was one of the two Pledis Entertainment representatives on Mnet's reality competition series Produce 48 in 2018.[2][3] During the finale, she finished in 26th place and was eliminated.[4]

Le Sserafim

On August 24, 2021, it was announced that Huh had signed an exclusive contract with Source Music and was set to debut as a member of the agency's new girl group.[5] On March 14, 2022, Source Music announced the launch of a new girl group, Le Sserafim, in collaboration with Hybe Corporation.[5][6] She was revealed as the sixth and final member on April 9, 2022.[7] The group debuted with the extended play Fearless and its lead single of the same name on May 2, 2022.[8] On August 9, 2022, Huh released her first single "Raise Your Glass" to commemorate the 100th day of her debut with Le Sserafim.[9]

Huh released her second single "I ≠ Doll" on January 9, 2023.[10] Written by Huh, the rock-influenced track featuring a trap beat describes her life as an idol who is judged solely based on her looks.[11][10] The title refers to both the words "idol" and "doll".[10] Illustrated by Huh, its accompanying music video depicts her journey as a public figure "navigating the attention and criticism she receives".[12][11] Regarding the video's main animated character, Huh said "I wanted to make a character who is at heart multi-dimensional appear two-dimensional and flat on purpose. I thought it'd be interesting to portray a subject that is not so simple in a simple manner."[13] Divyansha Dongre of Rolling Stone India called the song "a sharp critique of the complexities of constantly living in the spotlight and the judgment that follows".[14]
