Hyper Chariot is a startup company in Santa Monica, California that is working to commercialize the Hyper Chariot, a tube-based transportation system for moving passengers and cargo at supersonic speeds through an evacuated tube. Hyper Chariot relies on technology developed by the ET3 Global Alliance.[1]

The Hyper Chariot is similar in some respects to the Hyperloop, first described by Elon Musk in a white paper in August 2013. Hyper Chariot is a competitor to other Hyperloop developers.

History[edit]

Trains in evacuated tubes were first discussed in 1869 in New York. ET3 Global Alliance was founded in 1997 to promote evacuated tube technology and share intellectual property.

Hyper Chariot began promoting itself in June 2017. [2]

Technology[edit]

The company has made ambitious claims about its technology, which if demonstrated would be superior to Hyperloop.

The Hyper Chariot also uses a linear electric motor to accelerate and decelerate an electromagnetically levitated pod through a low-pressure tube.

  • Speed -- Top Design Speed 4,000 mph [3]
  • Vehicle Weight -- 400 lbs. [4]
  • Tube -- UHPC Concrete (not steel) [5]
  • Suspension -- "quantum levitation" that requires no power[6]
  • Network -- "maglev limo" with random access branching [2]
  • Clean -- "emission-free and 100 per cent solar-powered" [7]

Funding[edit]

The company had raised $4,700 on Indiegogo as of July 13, 2017. [8]

Management[edit]

The Founder of Hyper Chariot is Nick Garzilli. He graduated from USC School of Theater in 2002. He was employed by ET3 Consortium in 2011 before starting Hyper Chariot in December 2016.

The Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Hyper Chariot is Joanna Garzilli, spouse of Nick Garzilli. She is a motivational speaker and writer on the topic of intuition. [9]

The President of Hyper Chariot is Matthew Modine. Modine is an actor. He founded a bicycle advocacy organization in 2008.[10]
