IAAT (International Physician Register)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The International Physician Register™ (IAAT) is a division of the International Association of Therapists, Medical and other Academic Doctors (IAAT). This association had approximately 34,342 members as of July 2022. It operates worldwide and serves primarily as a registry and focal point for verifying the legal status of its medical members. It calls itself "The watchdog organization for integrity in science." Since the verification of diplomas and licenses is a major problem in many countries due to language barriers and divergent legislation, the IAAT is currently the only cross-border point of contact to obtain certainty about the authenticity of academic degrees, licenses and any licensure of doctors and therapists. A prerequisite is the free but not easily obtainable membership of the physician to be verified by IAAT.[1][2]

Membership[edit]

The association accepts new members, however, it has some of the strictest admission criteria of any medical organization in the world. To become a member of IAAT the following is required:

  • The reference of two IAAT members in good standing who have been part of the association for at least ten years.
  • The original or certified copy of birth certificate, passport, university diplomas, license to practice medicine, and other documents during the admission process.
  • A personally written letter explaining why the candidate wants to become a member.
  • An interview with the senior board members.
  • A letter of recommendation from the applicants current employer and at least one former employer.

Service for the public[edit]

IAAT is the only transnational verification institution for academic degrees and licenses in the field of medicine. The association provides patients and authorities with detailed information about the actual qualifications of doctors and therapists in times of mass migration of medical professionals towards Europe and other Western countries. Inquiries from patients and authorities are free of charge, hospitals and practices can book information packages tailored to their needs. The prerequisite is always that the doctor or therapist in question is a member of IAAT.
