Immix Wireless is Central Pennsylvania’s only independent, regional wireless operator. Immix Wireless provides 2.5G voice, text messaging (SMS), picture messaging (MMS), and unlimited data service using EDGE and GPRS technology on the 1900 MHz PCS band. Immix Wireless has partnered with virtually every GSM carrier in the nation to provide coverage throughout the U.S.
Immix Wireless employs a U.S.-based English/Spanish call center and operates 6 local company-owned stores located in Williamsport (Lycoming County), Muncy (Lycoming), Lewisburg (Union), Selinsgrove (Snyder), Pottsville (Schuylkill), and Wyomissing (Berks). The company also offers products through its independent Dealer/Agent program.
Immix Wireless was the first regional carrier to provide a handset-neutral, independent visual voicemail offering to its users through YouMail.[1]
In early 2010, Immix Wireless was featured as one of PC Magazines “10 Small Carriers with Great Phones”. Immix carries brands like Alcatel, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson. The company offers a wide variety of handsets choices from candy bar, flip, full touchscreen, and slider QWERTY keyboards. In 4th Quarter 2010, Immix introduced Android phones to their lineup.[2]
In August 2010, Immix Wireless was awarded a $36 million grant as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to upgrade its existing core network infrastructure with state-of-the-art 4G wireless broadband technology in rural and underserved areas in Pennsylvania. The project will deliver the first wireless 4G network and affordable broadband service to over 300,000 households in parts of Centre, Clinton, Lycoming, Sullivan, Snyder, Union, Northumberland, Montour, Schuylkill, and Berks Counties.[3] The program, administered nationwide by the Department of Commerce and Agriculture, aims to expand broadband access to rural regions throughout the country. With new or increased broadband access, communities will be able to expand businesses and education programs, allowing them to better compete in the global economy.[4]
