The International Treaty for Pandemic Preparedness and Response is a proposed international treaty currently being considered in the World Health Assembly of the World Health Organization.[1][2][3][4][5]
Background[edit]
The treated was first suggested by World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom at the 74th World Health Assembly in May 2021[6][7][8] when he stated:
"The safety of the world's people cannot rely solely on the goodwill of governments."[8]
The theme of the 74th World Health Assembly was "Ending this pandemic, preventing the next one."[8]
