Irene "The Alien" Dubois[1] is the stage name of Ian Hill,[2] an American drag performer most known for competing on the fifteenth season of RuPaul's Drag Race.

Education

Hill attended Southern Methodist University[3] and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theater.[2]

Career

Hill worked with Houston Grand Opera and Texas Repertory Theatre.[4] He began doing drag in Dallas, during college, and has worked as a drag queen since age 25.[5]

Based in Seattle,[6][7] Irene Dubois has performed at Julia's on Broadway[8] and Queer Bar,[9] where she co-hosted the weekly show "The Mothership" with Bosco, as of 2022.[10] Drag "sister" to Bosco,[11][12][13] Irene Dubois is known for her "bizarre and otherworldly"[14] looks and alien-inspired drag.[15] Being a fan of Patricia Arquette and Medium, her stage name was inspired by Allison DuBois.[16]

Irene Dubois won the So You Think You Can Drag competition in 2018,[17] earning her a cash prize and a recurring role in R Place's drag show "Lashes".[18] She also appeared in Tacocat's music video for "Grains of Salt".[19] During the COVID-19 pandemic, she participated in R Place's weekly online show "Lashes Living Room".[20]

Irene Dubois competed on the fifteenth season of RuPaul's Drag Race.[21][22] After winning the first mini challenge,[23][24] she was the first contestant eliminated from the competition.[25] For the talent show challenge, she taught viewers how to prepare a glass of ice water.[26][27] Irene Dubois lost the lip sync battle against Amethyst to Ariana Grande's "7 Rings" (2019).[28] Irene Dubois wore a purple and silver gown to the season 15 red carpet.[29] She has said she did receive enough air time on the show.[30]

While season 15 aired, Irene Dubois' Instagram following grew from 18,200 to 113,000 (a 521 percent increase).[31]

Personal life

Hill is from Houston.[4] He is gay.[32]
