Dharmendra is an Indian Television presenter, Actor[1], video jockey and Cinematographer who is working in Tamil television industry. He started his career as Cinematographer and Director by doing short films and started to work as Television producer and Video Jockey in Tamil Televisions like, DD Podhigai and Madhimugam TV.[2][3]. He was the host of many popular shows, especially the shows like Hollywood Times[2], Kelvikku Enna Badhil (DD Quiz show), Vanakkam Podhigai, Trendu Thala and many other Celebrity Interview shows in Doordharshan Podhigai, Madhimugam Tv and Cinema Vikatan YouTube Channel respectively.
Later he made his acting debut in television with Raja Mannar Vagaiyara Polimer TV serial.[4] His short film Raani Aatam which was directed by him with himself as the cinematographer, has gained much popularity and appreciation from the audience and some important technicians from the film industry[5][6]. In 2020, he was recognised by the Grand asian book of world records[7] who gave him Talent icon Award for his contribution in Media and film industry.
Personal life[edit]
Dharmendra was born on 22 November 1992 in Erode, Tamil Nadu to S.Jayan and M.Krishnaveni. His parents moved from Erode to Chennai after he was born. Dharmendra completed his schooling at St.Thomas Matriculation higher secondary school and later graduated from M.G.R. Government Film and Television Training Institute with a college degree. He also completed B.Sc.Visual communication from reputed Annamalai University.
Career[edit]
Dharmendra started his career as Cinematographer and Director by doing Short films and Album songs, notably like Raani Aatam and Unnodu vaazhnthaal varamallava starring Priyanka Deshpande[8] and Vignesh Karthick. In 2014, he joined as Assistant Cinematographer in Staar Movies production under Cinematographer Sakthi Saravanan for few months. Then he went on to join Vendhar TV as Cinematographer doing shows like V Voice and Master Chef. He then directed and hosted many live shows, reality shows and celebrity interviews on Madhimugam TV[9] for two years successfully. Subsequently, he signed as Video Journalist in Vikatan. Later, he started to work as Television Presenter in national television Doordarshan[10] DD Podhigai [11] doing several popular shows namely Hollywood Times, Kelvikku enna badhil - quiz show, Nam Virundhinar,[12] Vanakkam Podhigai, etc.
In 2021, Dharmendra made his acting debut with Raja Mannar Vagaiyara[13] Polimer TV serial of Suresh Chandra Menon, for which he got good reception for his acting. He is also acting as lead in Musical albums and Short Films. He hosted many special shows on festivals and movie promotion shows for Madhimugam Tv and DD Podhigai. He has also participated in various Stage Events, Dance events as a guest and also hosted many Live events.
