Jace Coyle (born May 24, 1990) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman. He is currently playing with the Sheffield Steelers in the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL).

Playing career[edit]

Coyle played four seasons (2007–2011) of major junior hockey in the Western Hockey League scoring 107 points and registering 203 penalty minutes in 241 games played.

On July 1, 2010, the Dallas Stars signed Coyle to a three-year entry-level contract.[1] Coyle played within the Stars organization for affiliates the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League and the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL.

At the conclusion of his contract, the Dallas Stars declined to qualify Coyle releasing him as a free agent. On July 30, 2013, Coyle was signed to a one-year contract with the Greenville Road Warriors of the ECHL[2] and on October 16, 2013, his contract was purchased by the Fort Wayne Komets who added him to their roster prior to the start of the 2013–14 ECHL season.[3]

Midway into the season with the Komets, Coyle was loaned briefly by the Komets to the Lake Erie Monsters on January 12, 2014.[4] He finished the season in producing 31 points in 63 games from the blueline with the Komets.

On July 22, 2014, Coyle signed a one-year contract with Danish club, Aalborg Pirates of the Metal Ligaen.[5]

On May 12, 2015, Coyle signed a one-year contract for the 2015–16 season with British club the Sheffield Steelers of the EIHL in following coach Paul Thompson.[6] In 64 contestes with the Steelers, Coyle would contribute with 34 points.

Coyle returned to North America after two seasons abroad, resuming his ECHL career in signing a one-year deal with the Quad City Mallards on August 17, 2016.[7] After 14 games with the Mallards, Coyle rejoined Sheffield Steelers in November 2016, helping to alleviate an injury crisis.[8]
