Jason Moore (writer)
Jason Moore (born c. 1984) is an American software engineer and writer living in the U.S. state of Oregon. He has been featured multiple times in reliable news sources[1][not in citation given] as one of the most prolific writers for Wikipedia, known as "editors".
Early life and career[edit]
Jason Moore is a White male.[2] Moore spent his early life in Houston, Texas, USA.[3] Moore attended the University of Texas at Austin from 2003 to 2006, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology.[citation needed] He is currently a strategist for a digital creative agency.[4] Moore resides in Portland, Oregon.[5]
Writing career[edit]
He began writing for Wikipedia in an unpaid capacity in 2007. In 2013, he was cited as creating 1,300 articles and made more than 58,000 contributions,[6] called "edits" in Wikipedia lingo, and was one of the 1,000 most active among 100,000 active Wikipedia writers.[3] By 2022, he was the main subject of CNN coverage and also cited by CNN as creating 50,000 entries,[7] including the US Capital riots of January 6, 2022[5] and on George Floyd,[4] a now prominent African American who was murdered while in custody of the police.[8] Moore is cited as being part of a Wikipedia sub-culture that spends hours per day writing without pay from Wikipedia.[4] In 2021, he was cited as one of the top 50 content creators in Wikipedia, according to Washington Monthly.[9]
Moore has taught basic coding and editing skills.[2]
