Jawad Majid Khan
Jawad Majid Khan (Urdu: جواد ماجد خان; born 1974) is a Pakistani banker[1], economist and philanthropist[2][3]. Currently, he is President & CEO of Summit Bank Limited[4], Pakistan. He graduated from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad in 1997 with M.Sc. in Economics.
He is one of the pioneers of Islamic Banking in Pakistan and has played a pivotal role in establishing, converting and successfully running three Islamic Banks in Pakistan: Alfalah Islamic Banking, Dubai Islamic Bank and Emaan Islamic Banking – Silkbank Limted.[5]
Along with being a banker, he has made many appearances on multiple forums to give comments, analyze and educate people on Pakistan’s economy. He has also written for national newspaper and has appeared on talk-shows.
He is Chairman of Al-Nasr Foundation. The foundation deals with social development programs of health, education, agriculture and environmental development in the northern areas of Pakistan.
Education[edit]
Jawad Majid Khan was born to an army officer in Peshawar. He got his primary and secondary education from army cantonment schools all over Pakistan and later did B.Sc. in Mathematics, Statistics and Economics from F.G Sir Syed College, Rawalpindi in 1995 and M.Sc. in Economics from Quaid-e-Azam University in Islamabad.
He also attended various trainings from Harvard Business School, Massachusetts (USA), National Defence University, Islamabad and Lahore University of Management Sciences, Lahore.
Banking Career[edit]
After graduating from Quaid-e-Azam University, Jawad Majid Khan joined Askari Commercial Bank Limited, Pakistan in 1997. He went on to join Bank Alfalah Limited, Pakistan in 2000, where he was one of the core bankers to launch the bank’s Islamic Banking division. He then joined Dubai Islamic Bank Limited, Pakistan, where he played an instrumental role in increasing bank’s network, product portfolio and profitability.
He joined Silkbank Limited’s Islamic division: Emaan Islamic Banking in 2011 where he headed the division and later became a Director. He converted conventional banking branches into Islamic and opened new Islamic branches as well. He joined Summit Bank Limited, Pakistan as President & CEO in March, 2021.[6]

Jawad Majid Khan has given many lectures and speeches at various universities and conferences[7]. He also makes frequent appearances at talk shows[8] regarding Pakistan’s economic issues. His article, Pakistan's economy races to a tipping point,[9] in one of the Pakistan’s national newspapers, Dawn News published on 30th October, 2017, saw much recognition and appreciation.
Jawad Majid Khan is on the board of advisors[10] for Centre for Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS). CGSS is a public policy making institution which helps the government of Pakistan with the matters of national security strategy, international affairs, economy etc. He is also on the board of Advisors of Youth Economic Forum (YEF). YEF aims to build a bridge between the youth of Pakistan and the country’s policy makers.
Al-Nasr Foundation[edit]
Al Nasr Foundation operates in Galyat and surrounding region of Pakistan. The foundation’s aim is poverty alleviation and is working to improve socio-economic conditions, health and education. The foundation is different from other non-governmental and welfare organizations as it focuses on self-reliance and sustainability. All funds and donations are only taken from local communities in the form of labor, land for projects and residence for teachers and medical staff on partnership basis.[3]
The foundation has been successful in providing clean drinking water with over five hundred completed projects, along with opening ninety schools for providing free education and books to approximately seven thousand students. All of these schools have separate space for basic health unit with provision of first aid kits, basic SOS medicines along with medical staff. Moreover, various innovative agricultural projects including kitchen gardening and bee farming have been initiated.[3]
