Hélène Carendi

Hélène Carendi, née Hellsten, born 4 April 1962 in Stockholm, Sweden, is an international entrepreneur and philanthropist. She has been married to Jan Carendi, an international businessman and senior board member, since 2008. Hélène Carendi has two children; daughter Madeleine Adamsson (born 1994) and her late son Mark Adamsson (born 1992). Hélène Carendi lives in Vaud, Switzerland.

Hélène Carendi is the daughter of Stig Hellsten, a former district court judge at Stockholm District Court, and the late Anna-Lisa Hellsten, Sweden's first female bank manager who worked at the Swedish Savings Banks Association.

Hélène Carendi has organised numerous events both within Sweden and at international level. From 1990 to 2000, she worked as CEO of the international music award, Polar Music Prize, founded by ABBA Manager, Stikkan Anderson, in 1989. This annual prize is awarded at a ceremony in Stockholm by HRH King Carl XVI Gustaf. Notable laureates include Sir Elton John, Sir Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Quincy Jones and Mstislav Rostropovich.

Throughout the 1990s, Hélène Carendi worked within PR, sponsoring and events. Hélène managed the celebration held for HRH King Carl XVI Gustaf's 50th Birthday at Stockholm Globe Arena. She also participated in the organisation of the inauguration ceremony in Stockholm City Hall when Stockholm was named Cultural Capital of the Year in 1998.
