Joél Filsaime

Joél Filsaime (born. September 20, 1984 in Boynton Beach, Florida), better known by his stage name J-Pimp[1], is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer.[2]

He is best known for his consistent underground hip hop album releases from his independent record label D-Ploy Records in iTunes Store, including The Average Joe received positive reviews and nominated on the Billboard (magazine).[3]

Early life[edit]

J-Pimp was born Joél Filsaime[4] in Boynton Beach, Florida and raised in Delray Beach, Florida of Haitian descent speaking Haitian Creole fluently. His mother was a voodoo priestess in Léogâne. He began taking interest in music at an early age, started as a DJ playing a variety of rap music on the morning announcement in junior high school. He dropout of high school in the eleventh grade following a serious football injury, he began to pursue a career in the music industry.[5][6] He developed his musical talent and taught himself how to record music from his home studio influenced by famous hip-hop artists such as Tupac Shakur, Twista, Wyclef Jean, Rick Ross, and 50 Cent.[7] He grew up listening to Hip hop and R&B music gaining recognition as a record producer, audio mixing local rap artists in his community. He was raised as a Roman Catholic and attended Catholic school. He is a 2010 Haiti earthquake survivor because he was in a Florida jail at the time.

Personal life[edit]

In December 2010, Joél Filsaime was arrested on gun charges in Palm Beach County, Florida. He was released from county jail to his own custody a few hours later.[8]
