Joe Hanzen was born as Douglas Johansson on 4 December 2001 at Umeå Birthing Center in northern Sweden. He showed an early interest in music and quickly fell in love with creating music with the tools around him, singing before speaking. He had a piano at his old house in Tegsnäset, Vindeln, which he quickly became engrossed in. It transcended into singalongs at Granö Beckasin where he fell in love with performing.[4][2][5]
