He didn't pass the first round of auditions, but many companies had the chance to watch his audition video while recruiting new trainees, leading to him becoming one of the most in-demand trainees at that time.[11][12] Seven different companies offered him contracts, such as JYP Entertainment, Cube Entertainment, FNC Ent and popular songwriter Bang Si-hyuk's company Big Hit Entertainment. After listening to the rapper and leader of Big Hit's project boy group, RM, in his visit to the company, Jungkook ended up choosing to sign with Big Hit and start his trainee period.[13][14]

Once Big Hit decided to turn their new boy group from a hip-hop crew into an k-pop group[18], training in dancing became a priority for the company. Jungkook didn't have any previous training experience on it, reason why Big Hit decided to send him for one month to Los Angeles, California, with Big Hit's dance choreographer Son Sung Deuk.[19][20] In United States Jungkook learned urban style, female dancing style and powerful dance choreos by many famous choreographers, the experience gave Jungkook a big love for dancing that made he even consider quit being an idol and become a dancer instead.[21]

Vocals[edit]
During early debut days, BTS was promoted predominantly as a hip-hop group with strong choreos as title tracks, which made Jungkook prioritize his side as sub rapper in performances.[63] It was later in 2014 that the group started to experiment with a different styles like R&B, electro and pop trying to showcase catchy melodies and vocals without losing their hip-hop influence.[64] Songs like "I NEED U" from The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: part 1 gave Jungkook the opportunity to showcase his range vocals with occasional falsettos and high notes. Ashraf Khater from Yahoo described Jungkook’s voice as versatile for different genres and specially noted his vocal power for slow songs; "While he's proven that he's indeed versatile when it comes to adapting to different kinds of genres, it's the slow songs that showcase just how good of a singer Jungkook really is".[65]
