Kaalo is a global industrial design company with offices in Chennai, India, and Austin, Texas. Kaalo engages in product and software design, business consulting and manufacturing and has partnered with well-known companies in the technological industry, such as Dell. Kaalo is known for its focus on experience design, its design strategy services and its commitment to sustainable products and packaging.[1][2][3][4]

Rajib and Amrita Adhikary founded Kaalo as an industrial design company in India in the early 1990s. After establishing a team of designers there, they moved to the United States where they continued running the business remotely, using virtual tools like Skype when those types of platforms were in their infancy.[5] They currently run Kaalo Design from Austin, Texas, and are in the process of building a five-acre design campus just west of downtown on Ranch Road 2222 to house and expand upon their growing business. Notable Projects[edit]
Kaalo has partnered with a variety of companies for a diverse array of projects, including ambulance redesign, augmented reality elements and self-serve kiosks for financial and retail services. Notable projects:
- The iNX Integrated Patient Transport and Loading System, an automated, digitally interfaced replacement for the traditional stretcher for manufacturer, Ferno[7]
- The Dell AR Assistant, an app that contains product manuals and employs augmented reality to walk the user through repair processes[8][9]
- VASP (verification, authentication, security, productivity) Facial Recognition, a facial recognition process for employee access and authentication for Forbes Technosys[10]
- Self-Service Kiosks, terminals for banking, insurance, retail, ticketing, reservations and transit information for Forbes Technosys[11]
- Aqua Therapy Devices, used for rehabilitation and therapy for the elderly and for athletes for H2O for Fitness[12]
- The Grayhill Touch Encoder, a customizable device that combines a dial-type mechanism with a touch screen[13]
- Design Yard, a five-acre design campus in Austin, Texas, currently under construction[6]
