Kashmir Aur Kashmiri Pandit is a history book by Indian author Ashok Kumar Pandey.[1] It is Pandey's second book. It was released on January 1st, 2020, by the publisher Rajkamal Prakashan. The book has been published in Hindi as well as English [2][3][4]

Plot[edit]

"Kashmir Aur Kashmiri Pandit" explores the socio-political processes surrounding the Kashmiri Pandits during the tumultuous history of rise of Islam in Kashmir. The author details the conversion and psycho-social construction of Kashmiri Pandits and Muslims, which had resulted in complex relations between the two groups. The book also includes arguments about contradictions developed during these struggles, which seemingly shaped[5] the strained[6] ties between Kashmir, Jammu, and the rest of independent India, the Pandit-Muslim relations within the Kashmir Valley.

This book explains, in detail, the circumstances responsible for the displacement of Pandits in the nineties and tries to understand Kashmir's context of its present and future. This is the first book to cover the narratives of Pandits living in the Kashmir Valley both before and after the removal of Article 370.[7] Ashok Kumar Pandey travelled to various areas throughout Kashmir and interacted extensively with the Pandit families.
