Kelvin Fube Bwalya- KBF

Kelvin Fube Bwalya (KBF) is a Prominent Zambian Politician and Lawyer( Senior counsel).[1].

Early Life and Professional Career[edit]

Kelvin Fube Bwalya (KBF), was born on 20th April, 1963 in Mufulira District of the Copperbelt Province in present-day Zambia.

Fube attended Mufulira Primary School and Butondo Secondary School in Mufulira. After his 'O' levels, he attended the Zambia National Service program, a compulsory military training program under the Kaunda Government. He received a scholarship to study at the University of Zambia and graduated in 1985 with a Law Degree[2].

In 1992, Fube established the Legal Firm, KBF and Partners[3] where he is currently the Managing Partner. Fube serves as Chairperson for the Competition & Consumer Protection Commission of Zambia[4]

Political Career[edit]

Kelvin Fube Bwalya served as Presidential Campaign Manager for late President Michael Chilufya Sata during 2011 Zambian general election. Between 2015 and 2016, he was the Deputy Chairperson for Elections for the ruling Patriotic Front (Zambia)[5]. He was dismissed from the position in December 2016[6]

On 23rd April, 2019 he announced his bid to stand for President of the Republic of Zambia during the 2021 General Elections[7][8][9] In May 2019 the Ruling Patriotic Front (Zambia) suspended Fube from the Party[10]

Personal Life[edit]

Kelvin Fube Bwalya is Married to Dr. Mary Katepa Bwalya. He is a member of the United Church in Zambia[11], the largest Protestant Church in Zambia.

Interviews[edit]

After announcing that he would stand for the Presidency of the Republic of Zambia, KBF gave interviews to several Private TV and radio stations to explain his presidential bid[12][13][14]

In an Interview on Phoenix FM, KBF clarified that he did not call for the removal of Edgar Lungu from office[15]

In February 2019, KBF gave an interview in which he called on the then president of Zambia, Mr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu, to suspend Minister Ronald Chitotela. Chitotela was facing charges of corruption in the courts of Law[16]
