Khalil Suleiman Halilu (born 29 October, 1990), is a Nigerian Businessman & Innovator who founded West Africa’s first eco-themed technology hub. Khalil is the founder and Chairman of Centre For Civic, Citizen's Welfare And Community Development (CWCD Africa) a non-governmental Organization particularly interested in Health, Education, Transparency and accountability, Environment and Climate Change, Peace and Security, Sustainability, Inclusive Development, Refugees, Migrants and The Displaced.[1] He also sits on the board of directors of Scirrocco the tea and cold beverage company, a sister company to Gongoni the aerosol company which together forms a conglomerate with 300+ products in African markets.[2]
Early Life[edit]
Khalil Halilu, an ethnic Hausa Muslim was born in Kano, Kano state, Nigeria, to a family known for its input in the trade & industry sector in Africa.[2] He obtained his early education in Kano in the north-western part of Nigeria. He attended the University of Hertfordshire, Hertfordshire county of England where he obtained a BSc in Business Administration in 2009, and a Master’s degree in International Business in 2010.[3]
Career & Business Life[edit]
Khalil worked as admin clerk at Archimode & Associates before he did his mandatory National Youth Service Corps in 2010.[4] He joined Scirrocco International Limited, a sister company to Gongoni Company Limited, which manufactures tea, and cold beverages as Chief Operating Officer in 2010 and remains a Director at Scirrocco International.[5] In 2018, together with his team, Khalil introduced the pioneer election monitoring system in Nigeria (Zabe).[6][7] The app recorded 2000% user growth and 3% disparity from INEC affirmed results in the Nigeria 2019 general elections[8] and he his an advocate for the prospects of E-voting and home-grown technology solutions for development in Africa.[9][10][11] Khalil founded and runs two startups. ShapShap Logistics (2016) and The CANs Park (2018). He founded ShapShap delivery app for users in Nigeria’s economic and executive capitals.[12] The name ShapShap translates to "to do quickly" in Nigerian pidgin.[13] ShapShap came 2nd place in the Fight Back COVID-19 Innovation Challenge, organized by Jaiz Bank in 2020.[14][15] He founded The CANs park, dubbed West Africa’s first eco-friendly tech hub. The CANs Park charts, Workspaces, technical and strategic consultation, and social innovation matchmaking.[3][16]
Personal life[edit]
Khalil fondly called KSH, is from Kano, Kano state. He lives in Abuja, Nigeria and he plays polo and golf as hobbies.[17]
