Francesco Stasi (born 14 April 2001), known professionally as Kid Yugi, is an Italian rapper.[4]

Early life and career[edit]

Francesco Stasi was born in Massafra and raised between Massafra and Bari. He began his rap career in his early teens under the pseudonym "lil killua". In February 2022, he released his debut official single, "Grammelot," under the name "Kid Yugi" on Spotify.

The release of "Grammelot" attracted the attention of the record label Thaurus, leading to subsequent singles such as "Sturm und Drang," "Kabuki," and "King Lear." In collaboration with rapper 18k, he released the track "No Kizzy," which was later included in 18k's album. In October 2022, Kid Yugi released the single "DEM," featuring rappers Tony Boy and Artie 5ive.[5]

The Globe[edit]

In November 2022, Kid Yugi's debut album, "The Globe," was released and subsequently certified gold. The album features collaborations with Kira, Sosa Priority, Artie 5ive, and Tony Boy.[5] The title "The Globe" references the famous Globe Theatre associated with William Shakespeare, an open-air theatre.[6] Kid Yugi draws a parallel between the theatre and street life, suggesting that both involve a degree of performance or pretense. The album includes three tracks that have achieved gold certification: "Grammelot," "Il filmografo," and "Il ferro di Čechov".[5]

2023–present: Commercial success and "I nomi del diavolo"[edit]

In February 2023, Kid Yugi appeared on Real Talk and released the single "Minaccia." In May, he collaborated with producer Night Skinny on the EP "Quarto di bue," which included tracks like "Massafghanistan" and "Quarto di bue." The EP was certified gold and featured collaborations with Guè Steppers, Tony Boy, and Artie 5ive.[5]

Kid Yugi also appeared on several albums in 2023, including Nitro's "Outsider," Don Joe's "Don Dada," and Irama and Rkomi's "No Stress." He gained significant attention with the double platinum track "Paradiso artificiale" on Tedua's album "La Divina Commedia".

On September 23, 2023, he performed at the Marrageddon Festival in Milan, featuring "Grammelot" and "Paradiso artificiale," which was broadcast live by Amazon Music[7] and Radio m2o.[8] He also contributed to the track "Cvlt" on Salmo and Noyz Narcos's album "Cvlt".[9]

In early 2024, Kid Yugi released the singles "Paganini" and "L'anticristo," leading up to his second album "I nomi del diavolo" in March. The album debuted at the top of the FIMI weekly album chart and achieved platinum certification. It also topped Spotify's Top Albums Debut Global chart, excluding the United States. The album includes collaborations with Tony Boy, Artie 5ive, Tedua, Papa V, Noyz Narcos, Ernia, Simba La Rue, Geolier, and Sfera Ebbasta, and features a sample from singer Fido Guido. "I nomi del diavolo" is a concept album influenced by William Golding's "Lord of the Flies".

On April 4, 2024, Kid Yugi featured on the track "Tutto fuori controllo" from Mace's album "Māyā," alongside Franco126 and Izi.
