Kim Yang-kyun (Korean: 김양균; born 1937) is a South Korean jurist who served as one of the nine inaugural Justices of the Constitutional Court of Korea from 1988 to 1994. He is also known for his later role as the founding chairman of the Gwangju Biennale.
Legal Career
Kim held senior positions within the prosecution, including serving as the Chief of the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office. In September 1988, he was appointed as an inaugural Justice of the Constitutional Court. [1]
Cultural and Civic Leadership
In 1995, Kim was appointed as the founding chairman of the Gwangju Biennale Organizing Committee. He was instrumental in launching the first contemporary art biennale in Asia, an event that became a significant cultural fixture for the city of Gwangju. [2] He later served as an advisor for the 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade.
Education
Kim is an alumnus of Chonnam National University, where he earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Law. In 1997, he received his Ph.D. in Law from the same institution. [3]
