Libertarians (pol. Libertarianie) is a Polish libertarian and classical liberal party founded at the first Libertarians convention on 18 January 2020 in Warsaw and officially registered on 15 December 2021.[1]
History
Formation
A political movement called Libertarians was presented for the first time on Facebook on 8 December 2019. The Facebook fanpage was created by Cezary Świtała[2] with the help of an acquaintance graphic designer. It didn't take long to see that many people in Poland were waiting for some Libertarian party in Poland. After just a month there were enough people to convene a convention and found a political party.[citation needed]
Registration
At the start, the party had many problems. Just after starting their signature collection, which was needed to become officially registered, the COVID-19 pandemic broke out. They decided to stop collecting signatures in public places because of the high risk of infection. The collection was successfully ended in summer 2020, but after that time some structures that had been chosen at the first convention were already not in the party, so the party needed another convention.
The first date of the second convention was planned for autumn 2020, but next waves of the pandemic and a big lockdown changed their plans again. Eventually, the convention was held on 12 June 2021, and after that they could finally submit all documents to a court in Warsaw. After a few corrections, they became finally registered on 15 December 2021. Libertarians declared their registration on 31 December 2021 while doing major rebranding of the whole party.
