List of universities in Ontario
The province of Ontario has 22 publicly funded universities which serve over 500,000 students per year.[1] Students may apply to all publicly funded universities in Ontario except the Royal Military College of Canada through the Ontario Universities' Applications Centre. The oldest university in Ontario is the University of Toronto which was founded in 1827, 40 years before Canada became a nation. Ontario's newest university, and the only one in which the sole official language is in French, is the Université de l'Ontario français, which was founded in 2018.
