Introduction[edit]

Lotus Eye Hospital & Institute is a chain of eye specialty hospitals in India headquartered at Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. It was founded by Dr S K Sundaramoorthy in 1990 at R. S. Puram, Coimbatore. He started the hospital as an eye care center which has now grown to 7 centers[1] in South India. The hospital was incorporated as Kalaivani Health Centre Private Limited on 14 Mach 1997. Later, it was renamed as Lotus Eye Care Hospital Private Limited on 23 January 2006. It went public[2] on 16 November 2007 & got listed in both BSE[3] and NSE[4] in the name Lotus Eye Care Hospital Limited. Again the name was rebranded on 12 April 2013 as Lotus Eye Hospital and Institute Limited.

Founder[edit]

Dr. S.K. Sundaramoorthy[5] born on August 21, 1944 after completing his medical graduation has started this hospital. He is the Founder and Chairperson of Lotus Eye Hospitals Group. He has been a member of many local groups, ophthalmic associations and also the recipient of the numerous awards.[6]Dr. S.K. Sundaramoorthy passed away on January 22, 2020.
