Lynn Alvin Mickelsen (born July 21, 1935) has been a general authority of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) since 1990.
Mickelsen was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho. As a young man, he was a missionary in the church's Central American Mission when it spanned from Guatemala to Panama.
Mickelsen studied at Ricks College and Brigham Young University (BYU). He graduated from BYU in 1966 with a degree in agricultural economics. After this, Mickelsen operated a potato farm in Idaho and also was involved in shipping potatoes.
In the LDS Church, Mickelsen has served as a bishop, stake president, regional representative, and as president of the Colombia Cali Mission. In 1990, he became a member of the Second Quorum of the Seventy. At the time of his call, he was serving as a temple worker in the Idaho Falls Temple, assigned to work in Spanish. In 1993, Mickelsen was transferred to the First Quorum of the Seventy.
Beginning in 2004, Mickelsen worked with Jay E. Jensen and Enrique Resek in supervising the preparation and publication of an LDS edition of the Bible in Spanish, using as their base text the Reina-Valera Translation of the Bible.[1]
