Introduction
M Sharfuddin Anik (Bengali: এম শরফুদ্দিন অনিক) is a popular and well-known Bangladeshi Film Director, Screenwriter and Producer.[1] He began his film career in films production in 2000. He utilized both traditional celluloid film and modern digital formats in his works. His target goal is to leverage the unique characteristics of each medium to create visually engaging and refreshing cinematic experiences for the audience. They are essentially bridging the gap between classic film aesthetics and contemporary digital filmmaking techniques to achieve the best possible visual storytelling. He is also a creative TV commercial (TVC) producer who has delivered a variety of high-quality commercials tailored to client specifications. This suggests expertise in both the creative aspects of advertising and the practicalities of video production.[2]
Early life
An early passion for storytelling, visual arts, and creativity became the foundation for M Sharfuddin Anik's projects or films. Born in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on June 22, 1977, he later studied production, direction, cinematography, and screenplay at AAFT in New Delhi, India, in 2002. While there, he made several feature films on topics ranging from public life to environmental issues. He holds a bachelor's and master's degree in Computer Science. In September 23 to 25, 2003, he and his team organized Bangladesh's first Documentary Film Festival.[3][4]
Biography
M Sharfuddin Anik is a prominent filmmaker and director in the Bangladeshi film industry. His career began in 2000, and since then, he has worked on a variety of projects including realistic fiction, feature films, art films, and commercial productions.
He is known for promoting social welfare through his films. In 2003, he organized the First Bangladesh Documentary Film Festival, which was supported by the Goethe-Institut (German Cultural Center, Dhaka). The festival showcased films from several national and international filmmakers, with notable figures like Kabi Shamsur Rahman (Writer and Poet), Professor Abdullah Abu Sayed (Director, Bishwo Shahitto Kendro), Syed Shujauddin Ahmed (Director General, National Institute of Mass Communication), A U M Fakruddin (Writer & Journalist), Anupam Hayet (Film Critic), A. B. M. Shalauddin (Deputy Director, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy), Chashi Nazrul Islam (President, Bangladesh Film Directors Association), Mrs. Momtaj Bilkis (Senior Sub Editor, Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha), Monowar Hossain Manik (Former President, Bangladesh Photographic Society) serving as advisors. Members of the Jury Board for this festival were Film Critic and Journalist Rafikuzzaman, Film Maker Zakiul Huq and Movie Critic Mahmuda Choudhury. A total of 30-40 Documentaries were screened in this festival.
In 2015, one of his most popular romantic and action based Bengali film name "GAME" [5] [6] [7] |Firm Director & Screenplay [8] [9] [10] was released at maximum cineplex and theaters of Bangladesh. A man of many talents, he was recognized with the "Best Executive Award" from the Business Associates and Foundation in 2009 for his best business excellence under the business operation of Samsung Electronics.
