Madan Maharaj FC is an Indian professional football club based in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. It is also the first professional football club from the state.[1] They compete in Madhya Pradesh Premier League, and are also nominated for the upcoming I-League Second Division.[2]

History[edit]

The club was founded in 1992. MMFC participated in the 24th Bodofa Upen Brahma All India Gold Cup Football Tournament and reached the semi-finals.[3] In 2018 Madan Maharaj FC was keen to participate in the 2nd Division League and was nominated by the Madhya Pradesh Football Association but couldn't participate in the league.[2] Madan Maharaj became champions of the inaugural season of Madhya Pradesh Premier League in 2021, by defeating Lions Club FC of Jabalpur in the final match, [4]by a margin of 2–0. Madan Maharaj scored the first goal in the 34th minute and increased the lead again in the 88th minute.[5] In July, the club was nominated for 2021–22 I-League 2nd division by Madhya Pradesh Football Association.[2]

Stadium[edit]

Madam Maharaj played their MP Premier League matches at Barkatullah Khan University's Ground in Bhopal.[6] Maharaj FC play their home matches at Tatya Tope Stadium and Sports Complex Bhopal.[7]

Ownership[edit]

MMFC is owned by a private college Madan Maharaj College Bhopal.[8]
