Storylines
Maeve arrived in Shortland Street in March 2020 as a Nurse Practitioner. It was clear from the start that she liked DON Nicole Miller, but their relationship began a bit roughly, with their first kiss causing Nicole to have a panic attack. They then split up for a couple of days but just couldn't stay apart and officially started dating. Not shortly after that, they bought a hospital apartment together; everything was going well until it became apparent that Wilder’s other mother, Saskia (Maeve’s ex), was in an abusive relationship, causing them to start a custody battle which then got resolved with a 50/50 custody agreement. Nicole then proposed to Maeve, asking her to be her wife; she said yes, and they had the first on-screen gay wedding for Shortland Street in November 2020. But on the night of their wedding, on the way home, they got hit by a car, causing Maeve to be in a coma and having a fractured pelvis among other injuries, and Nicole to have internal bleeding, causing them to end up in hospital. They both eventually recovered, but while in hospital, Theo confessed her love to Maeve and then kissed her. Maeve keeps telling Theo to go away, but Theo won't listen, resulting in the 2020 cliffhanger: Maeve getting a gift saying “forever your Theo xx”.
