The magedoom is a golem creature from the Forgotten Realms campaign setting in the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy roleplaying game. Within the game's set of rules, it serves as a monster and antagonist to the player characters.
Publication history[edit]
The magedoom first appear in Ruins of Zhentil Keep, an adventure module for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd edition with an illustration done by Jeff Butler.[1] The monster entry was later reprinted in the Monstrous Compendium Annual Volume III, a collection of previously published monsters.[2]
Description[edit]
The magedoom is described as a humanoid consisting of sludge with an eyeless human head. Magedooms are created by the Zhent wizards, an evil-aligned faction from the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. Their task is to kill enemy wizards. For this purpose, magedooms are surrounded by a zone which cannot be passed by magic spells.
Neither in Ruins of Zhentil Keep nor in the Monstrous Compendium Annual Volume III the magedoom is classified as a golem, though it is called a golem in its description in the Annual.
