From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Mamaearth is an Indian babycare, skincare and wellness brand co-founded by Varun Alagh and Ghazal Alagh and is owned by Honasa Consumer Pvt limited.[1] The company is headquartered in Gurugram, Haryana, India.[2][3][4]

History[edit]

The company was established in 2016, in Gurugram, Haryana, India. When the founders had their first child they started looking for chemical-free products for their baby, but they couldn’t find easily available options in India and ended up importing products, which was both expensive and time-consuming. Identifying this gap, they decided to create Mamaearth. While they started as a brand for baby care products, later it diversified into personal care products for adults as well.[5][6]

In a short span of 5 years, Mamaearth has reached over 5 million customers in 500 Indian cities servicing 19000 pin codes.[7]

In 2020, Mamaearth launched the 'Plant Goodness and Plastic Positive' initiative wherein they link every order being made on the Mamaearth website to a tree that they plant. Their objective is to plant 1 million trees by 2025. As of now, they have been able to plant over 40 thousand trees in a few months of pledging to plant goodness.[8][9] In the same year Mamaearth launched in UAE region.[10]

In 2022 the parent company of the brand acquired skincare brand BBlunt and Dr Seth's.[11][12][13]

Marketing[edit]

In 2018 Shilpa Shetty became the brand ambassador of Mamaearth.[14] In 2021, Sara Ali Khan become the brand ambassador of Mamaearth.[15][16] And recently in 2022, Samantha Ruth Prabhu was announced the brand ambassador for Mamaearth skincare range.[17]
