'Mark Holmes (motorcyclist)' is known for Long-distance motorcycle riding, notably riding a 2,300 cc. Triumph Rocket III around the world.
Education and Career[edit]
Mark Holmes attended Tavistock and Summerhill School and Reed's School before studying hotel management at The University of West London. In 2009 he completed a Business Growth Program (BGP) at Cranfield School of Management. In Mark's early career he worked at Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane, Happy Eater and at Sandown Park Racecourse Squash Club. He later worked for Lee Filters, a company founded by his father David Holmes, a member of The British Society of Cinematographers. In 1989 Mark and his first wife, Sue, started a business together distributing film and television production equipment, until her death in late 2016.

After leaving London on 1st April 2017, he rode 39,000 miles / 61,000 kilometres, across five continents, visiting 36 countries, and returning to London on 20th August 2018. He highlighted the people of The Islamic Republic of Iran as the most hospitable, the culture in India as the most fascinating, and New Zealand as the most beautiful country in the world. He also described the historic centre of Rome as the most romantic city, Sydney as the most vibrant, and Rio de Janeiro as the most rhythmical. After meeting and marrying Dalila, whilst still riding around the world, he returned to Lyon where they now live.
Mark rode solo and unsponsored, but his journey was picked up by Triumph Motorcycles Ltd[1] and featured five times in their on-line magazine called 'For The Ride'. [2]

'REVOLUTION' magazine, published by Revolution Media Pte Ltd, covering the world of luxury watches, featured Mark's journey in an article named "Two wheeled adventurer", Summer 2019, Issue 92.[8]
'TRAVERSE', an on-line magazine published in Melbourne, Australia, by 'Long Rider Publications', featured Mark's journey through Iran in its first issue - August 2017.[9]
Motorcycle adventure books written by Jim Rogers, Ted Simon, Lois Pryce, Charley Boorman, Ewan McGregor, Sam Manicom and others inspired Mark to make the circumnavigation for himself.
A definitive list of all circumnavigators of the world by motorcycle has been compiled by Mark Holmes and is hosted as an "open-source" on Horizons Unlimited.
