Markez Al-Islah (MAI)(Arabic: مركز الاصلاح markaz al'iislah) is a large public Islamic Center in Pondicherry, India. The center was established as a Public Education and Community progress initiative in 2012 .[1]
Introduction
The Centre for Public Education and Community progress is a long-term "dream mission" of Markez Al-Islah. Markez Al-Islah mainly concentrates on community development with a broader vision and specifically it has taken the job to activate the underdeveloped Mahallas (Muslim areas) with envisioned leadership and enriched resources, to make them capable of restoring their social functioning and to enhance their capacity for creating favorable societal conditions. Such changes are a big concern for any religious community, particularly Muslims because of the practical critical situations they face. The challenge is more acute when they live in a pluralistic society. The challenges cannot be resisted or stopped. The intelligent option is to make use of the positive impact for community development and to prepare them to face the challenges of negative impact. CPEC has developed various visionary projects to uplift and guide the new generation and their talents into value-centered excellence, to transform community leaders of all genres as catalysts of positive changes, and to empower women, children and youth as the key holders of society as envisioned by Islam.[2]
History
In 2012 SHEIKH Mawlānā Mawlawi Syed Nizamishah Noori Baqavi established The Centre for Public Education and Community progress in Pondicherry, making it the first Fazil education institution in Pondicherry.[3] It constituted the kernel of Markez Al-Islah. In 2013 the Center of Education was established as an independent center.
