Mathangi Ajithkumar is the singer to represent as the best and the most blessed to be the first of the 4th generation of Co-Singers of K. J. Yesudas.[3] It is a collaboration of singers aged 81 and 18! Her first step into a music career was through an introduction by M. S. Viswanathan at his live concert at Kamaraj Hall Chennai,[4] when she was only 6 years old. Mathangi is ever grateful to K. J. Yesudas for paving the way for her, and to start his 4th generation of Co-Singers with her. It was for a Tamil movie that she first sang with K. J. Yesudas.[5] This song was composed by Late Ravi J Menon and the lyrics were written by Devadas Nandakumar. Music director Vijaykumar Chambath gave her a duet song with K. J. Yesudas in a Malayalam film titled “14th February” and the lyrics were by Sreekumar Balakrishnan. It was a boon for her to sing with “GAANA GANDHARVAN” in both Tamil and Malayalam movies.[6]
She has sung in 24 movies including 18 Tamil movies, 5 Malayalam movies and 1 Kannada movie to her credit. In Tamil movies she has recorded songs with K. J. Yesudas, P.
