Melo Eggleston (born Timmel Amari Asasyn Eggleston, July 2, 1998) is an American college basketball player for the Bryant bulldogs of the Northeast conference. He received his name because it was a nickname “Melo”[1] from his uncle as a kid. Eggleston spent his freshman year of college at Wake Forest University, then as a sophomore he transferred to Arkansas State University, after sitting outside a year due to NCAA rules averaged 8.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per game.[2]

Early life[edit]

Eggleston is the son of Melvin Eggleston who was a varsity high school athlete who is now an EMT in Baltimore Maryland and Timika Reaves-Williams who is a Nurse. Eggleston is the cousin of Will Barton, current Denver Nuggets shooting guard. Eggleston has two sisters and one brother and grew up playing football, until middle school were he grew a passion for basketball. He played his first season of high school basketball at St Frances academy. As a sophomore, he transferred to Clinton Christian academy to play under coach Chris Cole. As a senior he averaged 16 points, eight rebounds, two assist, and one block per game. He led Clinton Christian to a belt way championship. He attended Notre Dame Preparatory School as a postgraduate to improve his academics. Eggleston averaged 18.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game at Notre Dame Preparatory school. He competed for DC Premier and Team Belief on the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) circuit.[3][4]

College career[edit]

on the 26th of April 2016 Melo committed to attend and play for Wake Forest University. On the 1st of June 2017, he signed to Wake Forest. In the 2017-18 | Freshman season, (Wake Forest) Eggleston Appeared in 21 games and averaged 1.0 points and 1.1 rebounds in 5.0 minutes per game. In the 2018-19 | Sophomore season, He Sat out after transferring from Wake Forest on the 12th of April 2020 to Bryant Bulldogs. Then In 2019-20 | Redshirt-Sophomore season, Eggleston averaged 8.4 points and 5.1 rebounds over 20 games and 10 starts for Sun Belt member Arkansas State. He Scored in double figures 10 times in 20 games with a pair of double-doubles, He also averaged 11.2 points per game in his first nine Sun Belt contests. He Appeared in 21 games at Wake Forest as a freshman, Ranked at No. 19 nationally by position and top 100 in the country by Rivals.[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16]
