Mirjana Puhar (Serbian Cyrillic: Мирјана Пухар; 27 July 1995 – 24 February 2015) was a Serbian model and reality show contestant in the United States. She garnered considerable fame and attention by appearing on America's Next Top Model.
Biography[edit]
Puhar was born in Sremska Mitrovica in Serbia's Vojvodina region. She fled to New York in 2000 as a result of the NATO bombing of Serbia during the Kosovo War.
She was a contestant on cycle 21 of America's Next Top Model, where she was eliminated in the 10th episode. In an interview with the Charlotte Observer, she recalled her journey from child refugee to high school dropout to McDonald's worker to the edge of pop culture fame. She spoke of her troubled teenaged years, in which she regularly skipped school and got into fights. She ended up getting her General Equivalency Diploma just prior to being cast on America's Next Top Model.[1][2]
Death[edit]
Puhar was found dead from gunshot wounds in a Charlotte, North Carolina, apartment on 24 February 2015, aged 19.[3] Reports state that Puhar and two other victims were found dead in her boyfriend's home.[4] According to TMZ reports she was killed in a triple homicide.[5]
