Mizanur Rahman Azhari, also known Azhari (born: 26 January, 1990), is a Bangladeshi Islamic Preacher from Demra, Dhaka[2][3][4] and a very popular named in the Muslim Community across the Globe especially, in Bangladesh. He has gained immense popularity in Mahfil in a short time.[5] Azhari, also well-known as an Islamic speaker, narrated in the 'Great Tafsir Mahfil' of the commemoration period.[6] In the last 50 years, Mizanur Rahman has broken the tradition of Waz and has been focusing on the above-ground and above-ground events. Social inconsistency is the main topic of his discussion.[7]

Early life[edit]

Mizanur Rahman Azhari was born on 26 January, 1990 in Demra Police Station, Dhaka.[8] His ancestral home is in Paramatla village of Muradnagar in Comilla district. His father is a madrasa teacher and his mother is a housewife. From an early age he studied in a madrasa. He later received a scholarship from Al-Azhar University. The title Azhari has been added to his name due to his studies at Al-Azhar University in Egypt.[9]

Mizanur Rahman got married on January 29, 2014. He has two daughters.

Education[edit]

Azhari passed the Dakhil Examination in 2004 with GPA-5 and also the Alim Examination in 2006 with GPA-5 both in the institution of Darunnajat Siddiqia Kamil Madrasah and gained top place results in the Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board.

In 2007, he took 1st place among thousands of students in the Egyptian Government Scholarship Examination which was organized by the Islamic Foundation, then he went to Egypt for the undergraduate with the subject Department of Tafsir and Quranic Science at Al-Azhar University in Egypt. He successfully completed his graduation with 80% marks. He also completed post-graduation, MPhil, IELT and Ph.D. at the International Islamic University of Malaysia.

Views[edit]

In 2020, criticism erupted across the country when a video of the cruel beating of an eight-year-old residential student at the Hafezi Madrasa, known as the Al Markazul Quran Islamic Academy in Chittagong's Hathazari, spread through social media.[10] Azhari said,

COVID-19[edit]

He has set up a fund to help workers in during the COVID-19 pandemic. On Friday, the verification of the fund was announced on his Facebook page.[12]

Criticism[edit]

He was criticized in the media when 12 Indian Hindus came to Bangladesh on illegal visas in January 2020 and converted to Islam. His gatherings have been banned more than once in various places for allegedly making anti-national remarks. Bangladesh Parliament in January, the anti-state elements to a comment by one of the MPs said. At the same time, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, the current Minister of Religion in Bangladesh, called for "Sayedee to be born from house to house" and called him a "product of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami" and said action would be taken against him.

Television[edit]

Azhari started his television career with ATN Bangla Islamic show Islam o Deen. Then he also contributed as a co-host of Boishakhi TV Islamic show Shantir Pothe. He also contributed to other Bangladeshi private television channel for the various Islamic show.
