Moani Hara (born December 3, 1989)[1] is an American model and hula dancer who won Miss Hawaii USA 2014.

Early life and education[edit]

Hara was born in Nu'uanu and is of Hawaiian, Japanese, Chinese, Dutch, Irish and Portuguese ancestry.[2] She graduated in 2008 from Assets school and studied public relations at the University of Hawaii.[2][3][4]

Career[edit]

She won Miss Hawaii's Outstanding Teen 2007[5] and was first runner-up in Miss Hawaii USA 2012 before winning Miss Hawaii USA 2014 in October 2013.[2][4][6][7][8]

She has worked as a model and hula dancer, appeared in an episode of Hawaii Five-0,[2] and been a correspondent for KHON-TV.[9] Since she has dyslexia, she has served as a volunteer with the Hawaii International Dyslexia Association.[3]
