Moot Technologies is a company based in Kenya that created a shopping app for smartphones and tablets that offers users rewards for shopping activities in-stores such as walking into stores, scanning items, making in-store purchases and submitting receipts. Users are awarded "moots" for these actions, and can exchange them for rewards in the form of mobile gift cards . The app is currently available for Android devices.
Moots can be redeemed for various rewards such as gift cards to places like partnering retail stores, restaurants and entertainment spots.[1] Moot also aggregates deals, sales, and coupons from local brands and retailers so users can easily access, peruse, and take advantage of them all in one place.
Moot’s business model with is pay-for-performance, with partners working with the company to determine their specific ROI – like in-app content views, products scanned or sold. Moot only earns money when the action is completed.[2]
In January 2018, Moot introduced Moot Grocery, a feature that lets users earn more rewards on their everyday grocery shopping. New products included list-building, branded content integrations and moots for receipts.

Moot, based in Nairobi, Kenya, was co-founded by David Olilo in 2017. The Moot app was released in November 2017. Moot also works with many Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) companies, who leverage the mobile rewards platform to reach shoppers while they are in-stores and drive sales without relying on coupons.
Unlike other location-enabled applications, Moot doesn't rely solely on GPS triangulation because GPS technology is too inaccurate to detect the presence of consumers in stores. Instead, Moot created a highly accurate inaudible signal, unique to each store, which can be detected by smartphone users who have the Moot app installed, when the app is open.
On January, 2017, Moot released its fifth version of the app, called Moot Rewards, with new features including moots for receipts, bar code scans, and discoveries.
