Moshe Menasheof (born 1958) is an Israeli Writer, Philosopher and Publisher. He wrote several books in the science fiction genre, translated the poetry of Jalal al-Din Rumi and an independent theorist and philosopher, and has original and comprehensive theories of Human consciousness. In his philosophical writing, he discusses subjects: perception, memory, sleep and dream.[1]. He also wrote articles against the existence of the unconscious[2]

Biography[edit]

Menasheof was born in 1958 in Isfahan, Iran. He attended Ettehad Jewish Alliance school in Isfahan, and made Aliyah to Israel in 1979[3]. Menasheof finished his bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Jewish thought in 1986 at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Between the years 1986-1987 he wrote several book reviews in the political weekly magazine "Koteret Rashit"[4] (Hebrew for "Top Headline") and was also a reporter for "Tzomet Ha'Sharon". local newspaper. During his studies, he established, edited and published "Danesh-ju"[5]. a magazine for students who made Aliyah from Iran.

He finished his master's degree in History of the Middle East in 1994 at the Tel Aviv University. His thesis was about "Iran's attitude towards the Jews at the eve of the Islamic revolution in Iran". In his unfinished Ph.D. in Philosophy he tried to formed his own original theory about human perception and memory, trying to deal with certain problems mentioned in philosophical literature. This theory was elaborated in his book “Dream & Memory – an essay on Perception, Memory, Sleeping and Dreaming”.[1]

In 2008 he established "Ktav"[6] (Hebrew word for "Writing") Publishing House in Israel.

Writing[edit]

Menasheof's first book, "Euphoria"[7]. a Sci-Fi novel, was first published by Kinneret publishing house in 1994. The book depicts a euphoric reality that suddenly goes awry.[8]. In 2007 he translated Farsi poet Natan Shaoulian's poetry book to Hebrew. His second book, "The virtual Look-alike" (Hebrew: הכפיל הוירטואלי‎‎‎), a philosophical Sci-Fi novel, was published in 2008 by Ktav Publishing House. The book was nominated for the Geffen Award for best original Hebrew book in 2009[9][10].

In 2011 Menasheof published two more books, both in Ktav Publishing House. "Amos – Redeemer of Fate" (Hebrew: עמוס-גואל הגורל‎‎‎), a philosophical novel, and "The story of the Treasure in Uncertainty" (Hebrew: סיפור המטמון באי הוודאות‎‎‎), a philosophical story in rhymes. The books correspond both with each other and with the works of Philosopher and poet Rumi[11].

In 2013 he published the book Rumi’s Poetry (Hebrew שירת רומי) – Poems from the Mathnawi and Thought of Jalal al-din Rumi[12].

In 2014 he published another Sci-Fi novel, "The Others" (Hebrew: האחרים‎‎‎), also in Ktav Publishing House.

In 2016 he published THE BOOK "Dreaming & Memory – an essay on Perception, Memory, Sleeping and Dreaming"[13]
