"Move Your Body" (also known as "Paisa Phek"; "Doob Ja Mere Pyaar Mein") is a Hindi song featured in the 2007 Hindi film Johnny Gaddaar. The song was composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy while the rap lyrics are penned by Hard Kaur and Hindi lyrics by the band Des-C. It was performed by Shankar Mahadevan and British Indian rapper Hard Kaur who made her debut in the film scene.

Development[edit]

Director Sriram Raghavan met Hard Kaur when she was in India for some gigs and to do a track for a campaign for HIV/AIDS and domestic violence against women. He invited her to sing a track in his film Johnny Gaddaar since he had seen her performances in TV before and liked it. Sriram introduced her to the trio and they jammed together to come up with a funky track, "Move Your Body".[1] There are Tamil and Telugu versions of the same in the album.

Music Video[edit]

The promotional music video directed by Shwethab, featured composers Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Hard Kaur. Sriram urged the hesitant composers to have a look at some of the scenes and then take a call. They were blown away by what they saw and agreed to do the music video.[2] The video has been interspersed with clippings from the film. The film's white and bright red title logo JOHNNY GADDAAR is prevalent in majority of frames from the song, which contrasts to the black and white picturisation of the song and contributes to high retention quotient. The vibrant red and black stripes are an inherent part of the song's picturisation. The song's color scheme is similar to that of Sin City, which director Raghavan is an ardent fan of.[3]

Awards[edit]

Nominated - Stardust Award for New Musical Sensation – Female - Hard Kaur[4]
