MyGemma

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

myGemma is an online luxury resale platform based in New York City. The company specializes in the buying, trading, and selling of luxury handbags, accessories, fine jewelry, and other fashion accessories.

History

myGemma was founded in 2018 by Andrew Brown.,[1] who also serves as the company's CEO.[2] Prior to establishing myGemma, Brown launched WP Diamonds in 2012, an online platform focused on purchasing luxury items directly from consumers. WP Diamonds later expanded into what became myGemma.

Timeline

In 2018, myGemma.com launched, which served as the e-commerce arm of WP Diamonds. myGemma started buying and selling designer handbags and accessories in 2020. The same year, Maya Ali,[3][4] formerly of UK-based luxury marketplace Cudoni, joined myGemma to lead its handbag division.

In 2022, myGemma collaborated with international auction house Bonhams[5] to co-host a luxury handbag auction.

WP Diamonds.com merged into myGemma.com[6] in 2023.[7] myGemma ran and stocked a pop-up for eBay in December. The company began livestream shopping shows across TikTok,[8] Instagram, and Whatnot.

myGemma began selling on Amazon Luxury Stores[9] in 2024.

Operations

myGemma[10] is headquartered at 535 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, New York City. At this location, they have a showroom[11] where customers can schedule appointments online to buy or sell products in person. Their e-commerce platform serves as their primary platform for customers to buy, trade in, or sell luxury accessories online. The company runs its authentication process in house.

When it comes to selling, myGemma provides two options: consignment[12] or "sell now". myGemma purchases customers' items directly. They accept goods from brands such as Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Bvlgari, Hermès, Cartier, Dior, and Tiffany & Co. There is also a trade-in program in which customers trade in their designer accessories for store credit, which can be used towards a new purchase.

myGemma sells on their platform as well as third-party platforms including: eBay, Vestiaire Collective, Amazon Luxury Stores,[13] Farfetch, TheRealReal, First Dibs, Bloomingdale's, Sotheby's, Poshmark, Chrono24,[14] Walmart, and more.

Sustainability

The company partners with environmental organizations Ecologi[15] and Ample as part of its sustainability[16] initiatives. For each sale and purchase, Ecologi plants a tree, while Ample removes ten plastic bottles from the ocean for each purchase.
