Dr Narahalli Balasubramanya born in Narahalli, Melukote Hubli, Pandavapura Taluk, Mandya is an Indian teacher, litterateur and writer. He writes in the Kannada language. Apart from published books he writes for newspapers and publishes weekly columns.[1][2][3]. He served as the regional representative of the Central Sahitya Academy for five years and contributed towards building a bridge between Kannada and other Indian languages and English. He has to his credit awards including GS Shivarudrappa Award for Literary Criticism, Kuvempu Award, Sahitya Academy Award and others[4]. As of 2021, he has published more then 35 books. He presides over several public literary events in India. [5][6][7][8]
Early Life and education[edit]
Narahalli was born on 5th September, 1953. His parents are Shri Shivaramaiah & Smt Rajalakshmamma. After attending school in his native village, Narahalli, he went ahead to do his BA Hons for which he secured the first rank and MA in Kannada at Bangalore University. He then completed his PhD. He worked as a professor and director of the Post Graduate Center in Seshadripuram Education Trust for more than three decades and has remained in Bangalore after retirement.
Literary Career[edit]
Narahalli began writing when he was doing his BA. Since then he has continued his contributions to the literary world through various forms such as criticisms, columns, poetry & complete works. He focuses on writing complete works of authors in Kannada. It began with his PhD thesis of celebrated Kannada poet K S Narasihma Swamy. Then he went on to write books on the complete works of Kuvempu, GS Shivarudrappa and other poets and authors.[9]

Narahalli is married to Rajani who is also a writer [10][11] and has two children Sahana & Sneha.
