National Engineering Challenge (NEC) is India’s national engineering competition organised by the THE GATE ACADEMY. NEC spreads in 150 cities with the mission to develop students by offering them the opportunity to challenge themselves in solving a theoretical or a practical problems. Students has to go through two different rounds to reach the finale.

The idea behind NEC is to encourage budding engineers showcase their excellence on a national level platform. Engineering students from around India takes part in this challenge. National engineering challenge is one of its kind with prizes of upto Rs. 25 Lacs to be won.

NEC History[edit]

Founders of The Gate Academy, Mr. Nitin Rakesh Prasad and Mr. Ritesh Raushan, wanted to create a platform for engineers that would help engineers to showcase their talent on a national level. Introducing & implementing such a concept needed a lot of brain storming.

First NEC quiz was conducted in year 2015 with overall participation of almost 1 Lac engineering students. In the year 2016, the participation increased to 1.5 Lacs + engineering students. Expected number of participation in year 2017 is around 2 Lacs+ students.

Structure[edit]

NEC develops through three levels of competition. With participants from 150 cities, NEC is one of the largest engineering competitions organized by THE GATE ACADEMY in India, with nearly 2 Lacs+ participation.

Preliminary Round 1 Syllabus: Basic Maths and General Aptitude.

Duration: 30 minutes for 40 questions with negative marking

Step 1: Students needs to register on NEC website: www.nec.thegateacademy.com

(All Fields are mandatory to fill)

Step 2: Students will receive the confirmation email with - username,

password and online exam portal link within 24 hours

Step 3: In Case you don't receive the confirmation mail - Please mail to www.nec@thegateacademy.com within 24 Hrs

Zonal Round -2 Syllabus: Basic Maths, General Aptitude and General Science

Duration: 30 mins for 40 Questions with negative marking

Top 100 winners will be intimated via email and phone

Registration will be confirmed once Student acknowledges on the mail and

share his/her travel tickets

Grand Finale Syllabus: Engineering Maths, General Aptitude, General Science and General Awareness

Duration : 3 hrs

Top 10 winners will be intimated via email and Phone

NEC Panel[edit]

NEC is a competition that spreads all over India reaching Lacs of students, universities and companies. But what makes NEC unique is not only the numbers and the technical outcomes, but the renowned panel members who mentors NEC, making it even more beneficial for engineering youth. The real life achievers interact with the engineering youth and guide them in choosing their career path. Interacting with such eminent personalities increases the motivation level of students.

NEC Prizes and Benefits[edit]

NEC activities start tentatively in December every year. With Lacs of participation. Before round-1 participants also gets the chance to win daily prizes. An activity called Question of the Day is organized for participants through which they get a chance to win daily prizes of Rs. 500/-

Round-1 100 winners gets free GATE coaching from THE GATE ACADEMY. Students have the liberty to choose any course of their choice. This free GATE coaching is a step to encourage students to appear for GATE exams and help them score well in GATE exam.

Round-2 top 10 winners are given free TabGATE as a token of appreciation. TabGATE provides them a flexibility to study anytime, anywhere.

In final round winner team & runner-up team are declared based on the scores. Winning team gets a cash prize of Rs. 1 Lakh and runner-up team gets a cash prize of Rs. 50,000/-
