Han Chinese symbols[edit]
As the scream of the eagle is heard when she has passed over, so a man’s name remains after his death. The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is today. Never has a man more need of his intelligence than when a fool asks him a question. One dog barks at something, the rest bark at him. A boaster and a liar are cousins-german. Diligence is a treasure of inestimable price, and prudence is the pledge of security. A woman that always laughs is everybody’s wife; a man that is always laughing is an idiot. A heart that is rotten — breath that smells. If the pedestal is beautiful the statue must be even more beautiful. A single conversation across the table with a wise man is worth a month’s study of books. Beautiful girls are seldom happy, intelligent boys are seldom beautiful. No pains, no gains. The early bird catches the worm. If you are planning for one year, grow rice. If you are planning for 20 years grow trees. If you are planning for centuries, grow men.
