Normanton Telecom Ltd. (trading as NT) is a British company which provides fixed telephone, broadband, software and hosted services to business and consumers in five countries. Its headquarters are in Normanton, West Yorkshire, United Kingdom. The company has been a subsidiary of the Normanton Group Limited since its formation in December 2015.

Normanton Telecoms owns various brands including Soft Computers, Hume E-Technologies and Normanton 2020.[1] The company claims to have over 200 customers in October 2016.

History[edit]

The company was formed in December 2015 whilst applying for its RID code on 21 December 2016,[2] they joined CEDR's CISAS Alternative dispute resolution scheme in September 2016.[3][4] In June 2016 - the company purchased Hume E-Technologies from Andrew Hume.[5][6] In October 2016 - the company launched the Normanton 2020 plan at the Leeds Premier Computer Fairs.[7] During the first six months the company had phone lines supplied by SureVoIP and the broadband from ICUK. In August 2016 the company switched to Comms Supply citing price differences.

The company is registered in England & Wales with Companies House issuing company number 09922546.[8] The company is also VAT registered.[9] The company is also registered as a reseller with Ofcom with a RID number.[2]

The company currently operates using 4 separate brands with specific purposes and separate heads. The brand are managed by the sales director. Brian White took on the role in September 2016 after the resignation of Andrew Hume.[10]

Normanton Consumers[edit]

This is the Business to consumer brand of the company - they used to operate on EBay and Amazon.com - however withdrew from both citing monetary issues - Normanton Consumers now maintains the website and most web sales. Normanton Consumers will change its name back to Normanton Telecoms.[11]

NTBusiness[edit]

This is the B2B aspect of the company. They mainly supply hosting services and broadband services to businesses.[12][13]

NTM[edit]

NTM is the mobile telecommunications brand of the business - they currently sell pay as you go and contract mobile phones. The company has often had low priced deals on Apple IPhone 7's - which has often been met with some controversy.[14]

Soft Computers[edit]

This is the software production and computer resale brand of the business. The brand works in partnership with Hume E-Technologies and trades as Hume E-Technologies and Crystal Computers. The brand predominantly sells on sites such as eBay and the company website.[15][16][17][18][19]

Hume E-Technologies[edit]

Hume E-Technologies is the Northern Ireland department of the business - the company has profited over £2,000 since its formation in July 2016. Normanton Telecoms has stated that Hume E-Technologies will close in March 2018 with all business transferring over to Normanton Consumers.[11]

Services[edit]

The company has a wide range of services - including VoIP phone, fixed-line telephone, broadband and mobile telephony services. The company has announced that it will introduce a dedicated VoIP server - rather than using the hosted services SureVoIP give. Fixed-line telephony and broadband are both supplied by Comms Supply (Comms Consulting Ltd), with mobile telephony been left to Vodafone (via. Jola) for the pay as you go and contract sim deals and the mobile phones are purchased by the company themselves.

The company operates out of six dedicated locations including Normanton, Londonderry, Leeds, Hull, Harderwijk and Reno. Each site is estimated to receive over 60 thousand logon requests daily.

Normanton Head Office[edit]

The company is still headquartered from Chief executive officers James Klaassen White's garage in Normanton, West Yorkshire. It is believed that there are over 30 tower servers stored in the family's garage.

Leeds Support Office[edit]

The company has its support offices in Leeds. The office is located on Regent Street and has approximately 150 employees working in the office. It was mentioned by Klaassen White that this number would be reduced by the end of the year citing costs at the Leeds Premier Computer Fair.

Harderwijk Server Farm[edit]

The company has a purpose built 10 acre Server farm located on the outskirts of Harderwijk. The office is one of the first in the world to have no permanent employees rather the company contracts out specialists from local areas to fix any issues that arise. However the majority of Support work is carried out by the Leeds Support Office.
