History
Nutri-Genetix (NGX) was co-founded in 2017 by Jeremy Poland (CEO), Hugo Jones (COO), Thomas Duncan-Bell (Co-Founder), Olga Hamilton (Head of Nutrition) and Alex Blyth (Chairman).
Following a first crowdfunding round in December 2019, NGX went live with a second campaign. The second round was launched with exclusive access to previous investors and customers before going public on 1 October 2020.[1]
Science
NGX uses the practice of Nutrigenetics, which is the science that studies and characterizes gene variants associated with differential response to specific nutrients.
Consequently, nutrigenomic tests assess your predisposition to certain food reactions. For example, depending on your genetic profile, you may metabolize carbohydrates faster than average.[2]
This nutrigenomic testing is done via a client’s saliva sample. The results from the sample are used to create a powdered formula (BodyFuel) that accommodates an individual’s requirements.

BodyFuel
BodyFuel is made from natural and sustainably sourced pea protein, brown rice protein, flax seed, and a tailored micronutrient mix of various dietary supplements (vitamins and minerals). BodyFuel is sweetened with a plant-based zero-carb sweetener (Steviol Glycosides).[4]
BodyFuel is sold in pouches of 500g.
Reviews
Nutri Genetix CEO Jeremy Poland pitched for investment on Dragons’ Den in May 2021. Nutri Genetix were able to land £50,000 in return for 15% of the business from investors Peter Jones and Touker Suleyman on the BBC Dragons’ Den television show.[5]
While on Dragons’ Den, Jeremy Poland said, “we are building the future of nutrition with revolutionary products that deliver exceptional results”.
The drawback, according to Sara Davies, is that BodyFuel “tastes awful”. However, according to Poland, “she had a taste of it and said that comment but added that she ‘never liked the taste of protein shakes’. It’s really annoying that they (the BBC) cut that out”.
