Our Lady of Victories Church in Somwarpet has a glorious history of 120 years. The church is located in the picturesque Somwarpet, a mountainous region of Kodagu, Karnataka, South India. Though there was a very small community of 50 families in the beginning, the early Catholics of this parish lived their faith vibrantly. They joined their hands to build a small chapel for worship which could accommodate 100 people. As the years passed, the number of families increased. Realizing the need of the time, and with the co-operation of the parishioners and generous donors, the existing church was rebuilt in 1966. It was inaugurated by H.E.Robert Knox. The church is also known as a haven for people seeking asylum from different parts of the world.
