History

2021–2023: Beginnings and early releases

Parabola debuted in December 2021 with their first show played in Granby, CT. The band continued to play live music until their debut single "Sad Grapes In A Bag" in March 2023 was released.

In January 2024, it was announced that Parabola had signed with the label The Equation and would release their first EP Mirrors in March. Ahead of the EP's release, the group issued two new singles — "Voices" in December 2023 and "Remedy" in January 2024.

In May the band released the first single for their debut album "3(Mistakes)".

2024: First two albums

In May 2024, it was announced that the band's debut full-length album Join The Equation was confirmed for a June release, with "3(Mistakes)" released as the fifth track from the record. Join The Equation received generally positive reviews from music critics.

In September 2024, the band announced their second album Beyond A Reasonable Doubt and released a new single, "Feeling Free". "Feeling Free" was followed in October and November by "Nightmare" and "Turn The Page", respectively. Beyond A Reasonable Doubt was released on November 29, 2024 and gave Parabola their most commercially successful album to date. The album was promoted at a show in Canton, CT in December.

2025: Wander South & hiatus

Towards the end of February 2025, the band released the single "Lose Control", their first new material since Beyond A Reasonable Doubt. This was followed by an announcement for a new album. The new album marked a significant change in the band's creative process, as they stopped working with their long-time producer Casio Robinson in favor of Sean Benham. Robinson took on a co-producer role with Benham.

In April 2025, Parabola issued a second single, entitled "Hide The Shame". The band revamped their website with the option to "wander" north or south, linking to Google Maps locations, and took on a theme of Morse code. The same month, alongside the release of a live EP, the band announced a merch drop with 13 symbols, and a tracklist for the upcoming album, all in Morse code.

On May 21, the band announced a double single entitled "Granite State / Last Dance" would be released on May 23.

On June 26, 2025, the band announced via Instagram that their third album, Wander South, would be surprise-released the following day, and that it was their final release. This, however, was short-lived, and the band just went on a short hiatus.

2025–present: Return & they want to divide us

In October 2025, Parabola announced their return from a short hiatus, issued two new singles "orpheus / empty heart" and declared a new album was in progress. Alongside this return announcement, Parabola also declared they were back to a duo with only the founding members, Robinson & Ocheduszko. Former bassist Ethan Cavanna was said to be working closely with the band, but not as an official member. The band did not deliver a statement on Benham's departure, and Robinson took back his original production role.

They would then announce in November of the same year, that they would be releasing a double album, entitled they want to divide us, divided into act i & act ii.

On December 26th, the band released a third single, "flying", and announced that Benham had returned to the band for subsequent releases.

they want to divide us: act i was released on January 23rd, 2026. The album received critical acclaim for much more mature songwriting, production, and composition. Some critics applauded its vulnerability as well as its commentary in the lyricism, as the album spoke on current political and social issues.

they want to divide us: act ii has no set release date as of yet; however, the band did say to expect a summer release. In March 2026, they released the first single for act ii, entitled "no love". Many critics and listeners applauded it as the band's best song yet.

On March 10, 2026, the band announced a new member. Tanner Tholl, who had previously featured on two songs, would be taking on the role of bass and additional vocals.
