The American instrumentalist referred to as 9.
Patrick di Santo is known for minimalism, and lateral thinking, when conveying a message often pushing the boundaries of content. Considered a virtuoso of space and media amplified by Savant Syndrome post 2012 TBI. Does extensive work with Children's Rights, Civil Rights, Human Rights, and Disability Rights, diagnosed in 2013 with chronic traumatic encephalopathy, a degenerative brain disorder.[4]
Born Patrick Rocco di Santo (/tʃɪˈkoʊni/; on July 9, 1965) and raised in a small dairy farming community. Moving to New York City in 1985, traveling extensively over the next decade perfecting media platform skills and commentary under the moniker 9. Releasing, two singles off the EP “Wax” on Vertigo Records.[16] By 1993 di Santo signed to Mercury/PolyGram Records releasing the single Alright, coining the phrase EDM (electronic digital media). Alright is a brutal, industrial collage of sound reminiscent of the musique concrète, in the 1950’s particularly Karlheinz Stockhausen's Gesang der Jünglinge and Philip Glass, Kristina Kubsich, Carla Scaletti, and Brian Eno.
The success of these early releases continued commercial relationships with Universal, Warner Bros, Power Station, and number9ine.com under IDP (Irresistible Demon Publishing). Gaining 9, CMJ artist of the Year for Alright while promoting "The Sound Odyssey Tour". Alright is included in six compilations, and remastered by Swiss protege Christian "Wicked" Wicht enjoying crossover airplay on alternative, electronic, punk, christian, country, and pop stations. Myth the soundtrack to Savon de Marseille; part I and part II secure di Santo as a media visionary. In the Daze, Dazed and versus the Orb off the album "because" are collaborations with the band The Orb and continue to enjoy club success.
di Santo is noted as an influential, independent talent in media, 9 is credited for being one of the few minimalists in production today. Having teamed up with psychology major Casey Reid of Saint Mary's University in 2017 as part of head injury research and rehabilitation. 9 has released 26 media recordings worldwide, 56 prints, 26 Human factors and ergonomics, 16 paintings, presented 6 instillation exhibits, 5 tours, 4 screen plays, and 2 retrospectives. 9, Firmly states "The goal has never been success perceived by others, but satisfaction with the work produced."
