Peddi Rama Rao (March 17, 1973) is a Telugu theater personality[1] and story writer. He is known to Telugu audience for a long-time mega TV daily serial writer Ruthuragalu. He has been working hard since the days of his "Yavanika" magazine to enrich The Telugu drama. He is the author, karma, and action of the miracle that created millions of audiences for 'Drama' with fantastic plays like Miss Meena and Adventures of Baby.[2] Although he could do all the direction and storytelling, he was a true teacher who encouraged and supervised his students and guided them.

Biography[edit]

Peddi Ramarao was born on 17 March 1973, in Unnava in Guntur District. His father is a retired medical officer of Sambasiva Rao and his mother, Rama Ratnamma, is a housewife. In 1991-94 he earned his B.A. from Nagarjuna University, Master of Performing Arts (MPA) in the Theatre Arts Department at the University of Hyderabad in 1994-96 and Ph.D. in theatre arts at the same university in 1998–2003.

Personal life[edit]

On March 31, 2002, Ramarao was married to Telugu television actress Srilakshmi Kanakala. They have two daughters (Prerana and Ragalina).[3]

Early life[edit]

Ramarao worked in the Left Student Organization, SFI, during his studies in Narasaraopeta. He joined the Andhra Prajanatyamandali and started participating in their programs. At one stage, he also wanted to serve as a full-time worker for the Praja Natya Mandali. He has written poetry, and many of his stories were performed as dramas. For a year, he worked as a journalist for "Suprabhatam" Magazine, writing articles on contemporary politics. At that time, he wrote an interesting story on the life of Bhadrachalam Naxalite force.

He had the opportunity to work in the season's broadcast of television. It was a big turning point in his life. As a result of this opportunity, he received financial power and started a monthly theatre magazine called "Yavanika" with its support.[4] He has written theatrical essays and all of them in the form of "Yavanika".[5]

He played an active role in managing the Telugu Theatre Day on April 16, the birthday of the original man, and the organized theatre training camps. Currently, he is a professor in the theatre arts department in Hyderabad.

  1. The Theatre Arts Department, University of Hyderabad, with the financial assistance of Sir Ratan Tata Trust, worked as the project coordinator for the Theatre Outreach Unit (TOU) set up in July 2012. As part of the Artists in Residency program, he made dramas called Miss Meena and Adventures of Baby and performed throughout the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States.[6] Telugu Theatre has been worked to develop a more beneficial genre.

  2. He has provided 350 episodes of story and screenplay to The first daily serial in Telugu, The Ruthuragalu (Doordarshan 1998–2001)
  3. In 2002, Vidhi daily serial 200 episodes broadcast on Etv were screened.
  4. In 2003–04, the story, screenplay, and dialogues were provided to 150 episodes of the Satya Daily Serial broadcast on Maa TV.
  5. In 2006, the story, screenplay, and dialogues were provided to 13 episodes of the Alu-Balu Weekly serial broadcast on Etv.
  6. In 2008, the story, screenplay, and dialogues were provided to the Yuva weekly serial broadcast on MTV.
  7. Since 2002, he has written and directed various Documentaries and Corporate Films.
